Be the best counselor
Camp Waziyatah is rated as one of the best camps in Maine on Campratingz.com, and we've rated 30 out of 30 on Google reviews. Our success could not be possible without our wonderful counselors!
Wazi counselors come from a variety of backgrounds, training, and skill sets. Our counselors are teachers, childcare specialists, students, guidance counselors, and former Wazi campers. We take pride in knowing that our staff members are well trained, competent, mature, and caring individuals. We know that our counselors are the best at what they do because our campers love their experiences and keep coming back for more.
Some of our counselors are former campers of Camp Waziyatah and some have even made it to the ten-year mark where they get a road named after them! At age 16, and entering 11th grade, campers can enroll in the Counselor in Training Program. Entering grade 12, those who have passed the CIT 1 level are eligible for a Junior Counselor Position. Both positions help our future counselors train to be camp counselors. The program includes leadership training, a Red Cross Life Guard certification, and practical experience teaching activities and working with campers.
Our counselors work together to create a safe, fun environment for campers. Wazi counselors embody our core values of Courtesy, Integrity, Respect and Responsibility. Their passion for their positions and their pride in their work is why Wazi Counselors are the best!
